Homestead Moments

This morning my homestead moment made me smile. It was my first real sign of spring. Despite the fact there are still patches of snow on the mountains that I see out my windows, I saw two ducks in my pond. Every spring it seems like a couple of ducks take up residence in our pond for awhile. When I see them I know spring is on its way!

I went out on my deck to try and get a picture of them but as soon as they saw me they took off! So all I ended up with for this “homestead moment” was a blurry pic of them flying away.. aww.. bummer..

Well maybe the ducks are not my real first sign of spring. This always gets me excited about spring….

The gardening season is on its way… :)

  1. Living in Missouri we know spring isn't too far off when the geese start flying north over our place. A noisy bunch announcing their return. I wish I had a place to start seeds. I am still buying my plants from the nursery. of course somethings that I can put right in the ground the first of May I start with a seed but not tomatoes or peppers or any thing tender. I don't know if I have told you but I just LOVE your view! Thanks for sharing it with us!

  2. I started our gardening season yesterday (with a great deal of excitement)...planted some Swiss chard, leaf lettuce and an Italian parsley:)
Can hardly wait to see your gardening photos this year---have fun!
    Blessings, Aimee
