Sunday on the Homestead

We were up early as usual this morning..  Tobin headed off to work around 5:am we went to church later on. Early service starts at 8:00am and we have to be out of the house around 7:30 or so...  This has become our favorite service to attend.  The sermon this morning was on love, not the silly way the word love is used today for a zillion different occasions and things…  but the love of Christ and how we are to show that to others. He preached from John chapter 13 verses 31 to 35, Jesus was talking to his disciples before His betrayal, death and resurrection ..  A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.  By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another (verses 34 & 35)..  As my pastor said, He had to say it twice and went on to say it again before His death .. “love one another”..  there was an understanding from God that this would not always be easy for us as believers.  I would have to say that his sermon this morning was challenging in light of some circumstances to say the least (it is easy to love someone who loves you back, but not so easy when you have been hurt or betrayed).  But the Lord in His goodness gives us the grace to love in difficult circumstances.  That is what HE is all about and we are to reflect the love of God to fellow believers; that is Scriptural.   It was a powerful and moving Palm Sunday sermon.

The younger kids stayed for Sunday school with friends, Hannah had to rush off to work and the girls and I came home to a quiet house.  Emily made us a mint milkshake and we ate pizza for lunch.

Then I laid down for a little nap.  The boys are home now with their friend Andy here and Sierra is at her friends house.  Emily and I are getting ready to make some lotion.  I bought some new scent oils and want to try a batch or two to see if I want to add them to my store for summer time.

I have some leg of goat cooking in the oven and will add some veggies to it later on for stew..  I think.. I may make gravy and have the meat and gravy over noodles..  not quite sure yet what I will do yet.

I also have a load of laundry going so I can have a head start on my Monday chore list.

The sun is shining and Emily is letting me know she is ready to play around with some lotion..  It is time to get off the computer!

Hope you have a blessed Sunday..

  1. Your Sunday sounded peaceful! (Hope it was!)

    How'd your lotion turn out?

    Julie :)

  2. Sounds like a nice Sunday, and a good, important sermon. I love those!

BTW, I'm having a contest if you'd like to participate!

  3. Roasted goats leg, that's a new one to me. My husband loves to try new meats (well new to us) so I'll have to let him know about that one.

    I hope it was delicious.

  4. I made your Sloppy Joe Recipe for dinner tonight and it was great! Everyone really liked it, even those who aren't big fans of sloppy joes!

Thank you for taking the time to post/publish so many great helps and helpful information.
