Tuesday on the Homestead

Well my day has already started.  I was up at 4:00 am when hubby got up to head to work.  I then did my Bible reading, prayer time and then worked to refine my menu and make a list.

Hannah, Emily and I are off to town today to do some grocery shopping.  I have 2 pretty long lists and 2 stores to stop at (Winco and Costco).  I am not sure yet if I will have any other errands to run while I am out.

Leanne will be at home watching the youngin’s..  she and Sierra can bake bread (6 loaves), and get the beans cooking for tonight’s chili.

Before I leave I want to start a batch of yogurt, more buttermilk and drain my cream cheese.  Emily started some cream cheese yesterday afternoon and it needs to be drained.  I have had someone ask me for the whey from this batch of cheese.  They want to use it for making fermented veggies. That is what I use it for too.  I have some fermented Latin sauerkraut and some fermented salsa that I want to make this week.  I have been using the recipes from Sally Fallon’s book mostly (Nourishing Traditions).

Laundry and house keeping of course are on the list today as well.

Dinner tonight will be chili, tortilla chips, salad and watermelon or some type of fresh summer fruit.

That sums up my Tuesday on my homestead

  1. I think it's really neat you make your own buttermilk. I just started buying it at the store as I've found recipes that call for buttermilk taste a lot better! :) You have a really nice blog and I love your website! I've really enjoyed making the homemade cleaners!

God Bless you and your ministry! :)
