Homemaking Challenge for February: Final Update!

All 3 of my freezers are cleaned out! I managed to complete the task before the month ended and looking forward March’s challenge, which I’ll be posting about soon.

The second freezer started out looking like this…

And ended up…

The 3rd freezer is completely cleaned out and now is empty. My goal had been to consolidate into 2 freezers.

The fridge got a good cleaning as well

My 2nd fridge is much small and was cleaned out not long ago so it did not need anything more than a wipe down.

For anyone joining me this month in February’s homemaking challenge, I hope you were able to get this task marked off your list as well!

    2. Crystal, I see you have cannning jars in the freezer, can I ask what's in them? I never thought of freezing in them, I actually didn't know you could do that. Isn't funny what someone learns just from a picture. I am in the process of cleaning out my freezers, I have 2 upright freezers, a chest freezer and 2 refrigerators with freezers, yes alot of freezers. I too should down size in freezers, we raised 7 children with only one at home still and she will always be here she is special needs, but when I find bargains I get them, I do alot of couponing so that's why my freezers are full. Thank you again..

    3. Lisa, sounds like you and I have been in similar situations... 3 freezers & 2 fridges.. it's needed when raising a big family for sure! Yes, you can freeze things in canning jars. Just be mindful not to fill the jars to full. Your food will expand and if there is not enough head space your jars will crack. I usually aim for filling the jars about 3/4 full and then freezing without the lid just to make sure. Once they are frozen I put the lid on them. In the picture you see I have blackberry freezer jam. I also freeze stock and soups in jars and when I had goats I would freeze my milk in canning jars.

  2. Thank you Crystal for your answer. I freeze some stock/broth sometime and I will use this idea when I freeze a small amount. Thanks for sharing. I can't wait until your March project!
